The hand chain hoist combines the advantages of a fixed pulley with a reduction mechanism, reverse-stop brake and chain pulley system. Its symmetrical two-stage spur gear arrangement is simple, durable and efficient. Pulling the hand chain rotates the hand-chain wheel, pressing the friction disc, ratchet and brake seat together so they rotate as a unit. The long pinion shaft drives the intermediate gear, short pinion shaft and splined-bore gear. The load sprocket on the splined-bore gear drives the load chain to lift the load smoothly. A one-way ratchet-and-friction-disc brake holds the load automatically; a spring keeps the pawl engaged with the ratchet.
